WEEK 59: HEAT RASH, FAMILIES WITH BAPTISMAL DATE

Hey friends.

Whats up everyone?

This week I got a heat rash. But I'm more sure that it's like a really bad sunburn, because it was soooo hot this week.  And thank the Lord that it is not raining everyday.  Because here in Santa Cruz it rains a little bit.  Then the Sun comes out and EVERYTHING gets fried. But it was super hot!

But that doesn't stop us from getting the work done here in Santa Cruz.  Elder Mendoza and I have been working like crazy people finding new families.  We have three new families that have or are going to have a baptismal date.

The newest family is the Paco family.  Hermano Omar and his wife Marisol and their children have a baptismal date.  Marisol has stomach cancer.  So we have been stressing a lot on the Plan of Salvation.  They called us Angels of God and we have an appointment with them on Tuesday.  They are super cool and I have faith that they will be baptized on the 21st of November.

Scripture of the Week:
1 Corinthians 1: 17-18

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel:  not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Have a Great WEEK EVERYONE!    :D

WEEK 58: THE WEEK OF THE CROCODILE

Welp.

This week was a little bit harder. But we saw a fruit of our service.  Like two weeks ago, we went and helped a dude clean up his house.  He had a dead crocodile.  We asked him to stuff it and we hung it up in our house.

We had a Zone Conference with President Willard and we talked about receiving revelation.  Then we read the talk from President Utchdorf about Great Aunt Rose and how the Gospel made her happy.  We then walked around talking to people.  But it seems like everyone here has had a bad experience with the Missionaries.  It seems like we walk in circles trying to find lessons, but we are starting to come out of the area.

THE GOSPEL WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY IF YOU LET IT!

Scripture of the Week:
Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:  as it is written.  The just shall live by faith.

I hope you all have a good week!!! :)

WEEK 57: THE WEEK OF SPEAKING GRINGO, FRIED WHITE PEOPLE

Elder Jonathan Tracy in the Internet cafe today.

Hey everyone.  This week was a week of words.  Nothing but words.  Words to people in the street.  Insults from the drunk guys and young people.  And Words of Wisdom from the scriptures.

To start off this week, we had companionship transfers with Elder Gomez, an Elder from Argentina.  We went to his area which is called La Libertad or "Liberty" and walked around and talked to a lot of people.  I got super sun burned (photo included) and then we finished the Transfer and went back to my area La Cañada.

Missionary Sunburn

We have been having some problems finding new investigators.  So we just talked to EVERYONE.  I have learned to love to talk to people in the Street.  Seeing someone and wanting to share the gospel is the sign of true conversion.  I have started the New Testament, because I have read the Book of Mormon twice in Spanish.  So aside from the Words of Nephi, Mormon, and Alma, I will also be studying more extensively from John, Paul, and Christ himself.  I have grown to love the New Testament.  All of the Wisdom that Jesus imparts is priceless.

READ THE SCRIPTURES.  ASK THE MISSIONARIES.  IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, THEY WILL HELP YOU!!!!!!!!

Scripture of the Week:
John 14: 26-27

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Have a great week everyone!!!

WEEK #53: GENERAL CONFERENCE #3

Hey everyone!

How was your Conference weekend?  How was your week?

My week was HARD.  We haven't been having much success this week.  We have a couple of investigators that are progressing.  But we need to find more people than we already have right now! We don't have much support from Members.  But you know what they say. "Put your Shoulder to the Wheel" or in Spanish "Pon tu hombro a la lid!"

The Conference has been a great experience.  I met up with Elder Beals, Strong, and Rowley to have the group reunion with just the four of us.  We are only missing like 12 more people to get our whole group with us.

Some of the quotes I liked were that "You are rich if you live HAPPILY within your means" and "Faith is not by chance, it is by choice."  It has really opened up my understanding and how I should bee seeing the things here in La Cañada.

Scripture of the Week:
Moroni 9:6

And now, my beloved son, notwithstanding their hardness, let us labor diligently; for if we should cease to labor, we should be brought under condemnation; for we have a labor to perform whilst in this tabernacle of clay, that we may conquer the enemy of all righteousness, and rest our souls in the kingdom of God.

Have a great week everyone!
